What I Do

I offer a family history research service tailored to your individual needs. Every project is different from the last and every client has a different starting point. The more information you can give me about the ancestors you want me to investigate, the better, as there is no point paying me to find out information you could have gleaned from a quick chat with a family member! 

 

How Much It Costs

As a guide, my basic fee is £30 per hour for research and compilation of a report. This includes access to the databases I subscribe to, entry fees to the Scotland's People centres in Glasgow and Edinburgh, memberships I hold for libraries and archives, production of a final report and digital copies of material found as well as local travel. If additional travel or expenses are required I will discuss this with you so you can decide if you wish to go ahead.



​What You Can Expect

An attractive, accurate and interesting final report that tells the story of your ancestor/s in an accessible and entertaining way. In addition, you will receive a family tree chart and digital copies of archive material with ideas and pointers for further research which can be carried out on your own or with additional help from me.
